2020

Tasting Note
An Intense deep Red colour with an amazing nose following typical ripe plums, black cherries and mocha from the French barrels intertwined with a variety of fruit on the palate.  Once again the perfectly ripened grapes, blended with fine tannins and matured for an extended time in French oak barrels will mature to something perfect in the following ten years which is so amazing to this wonderful and exceptional Pinotage from South Africa.

2019

Tasting notes:
A deep red colour with a nose of sweet ripe black cherries, ripe plums and a touch of Mocha from the French
barrels intertwined with Marzipan on the palate.The fine tannins from the perfectly ripened grapes blended in
French oak barrels to add complexity on the taste and ensuring a long smooth finish with well integrated wood
tannins that will guarantee a long maturation to perfection over many years. A great Pinotage, for those like to
enjoy a slow-aged red wine for a special ‘Rack of Lamb’ dinner.

2018

Tasting notes:
“A deep crimson colour and a nose of sweet black fruit like ripe cherries, ripe plum pudding and a touch of marzipan that is echoed on the palate. The fine tannins are perfectly balanced with well integrated wood flavours, that ensures a long and
lasting aftertaste. A great wine that will benefit continuously with perfect maturation over many years.”

2017

 Tasting notes:
“Deep intense dark red colour with a purple rim. A big an intense nose of black fruits, spice & perfume, with touches of integrated oak aromas. The palate is big and bold with flavours of black cherries, blackcurrant and herbs, perfectly combined with smooth ripe tannins that finishes with a lingering and balanced dry aftertaste. A great example of an excellent vintage.”

2016

Tasting notes:
“A wine characterized by a rich violet–red colour and a nose that hints of black cherry and toasted savoury spice. The product of a dry hot vintage that brings about pronounced earthy flavours together with smooth cloves, sundried tomatoes and dried herbs. This wine suggests a palate of dark chocolate and chilli underpinned with soft leather aromas. The perfectly intertwined tannins and oak flavours suggests a wine with great ageing potential if stored in a dark and cool atmosphere.”

2015

 Tasting notes:
"Typical Intense deep purple-red colour.  Intense and complex nose consisting of a variety of fruits and spices - mostly ripe plums, blackberries and black cherries, combined with the usual touch of ripe bananas and subtle tones of spicy oak characteristics!  The full and complex palate ensures an immediate enjoyment of concentrated flavours that is accompanied by superbly ripe and balanced
tannins.  Perfectly integrated wood flavours allows for a long and complete aftertaste.  A classic example of a great vintage with long maturation
potential.  Drink within the next two to three years and you can carry on drinking for the next 15 years if cellared well!"

“Typical deep purple colour.  Super attractively perfumed nose.  Complex aromas of exotic fruits, sweet spices, cedar wood, cinnamon and whiffs of dried bananas.  The palate is rich and complex with an abundance of fruit, perfectly balanced with fruit tannins and well integrated  oak wood flavours.  The extremely long and opulent aftertaste promises great maturation potential well into the next decade or two.”

“Typical deep and intense crimson colour.  Wonderful complex nose of ripe dark and red fruits combined with cedar wood,
fine sweet spices and elegant hints of oak.  The juicy fruit flavours of black cherries, ripe plums and blackberry are perfectly matched by superb tannins that give the wine a combination of opulence, drinkability and perfect balance,
without sacrificing the ability to mature well into the future.  The finest example of this cultivar from a truly unique vintage.”

“Traditional deep and dark purple-red colour.  The perfumed ripe fruit nose is complimented by cinnamon, spice, subtle notes of oak and whiffs of dried bananas.  Black cherries, vanilla and a variety of juicy black fruit flavours, creates a complex taste that fills the mouth and nasal cavities.  The intense flavour perfectly balanced with fine tannins, ensures a very long and mouth-watering aftertaste.  A great example of power and elegance.”

 Tasting notes:         
“Typical dark ruby-red colour.  A bold and attractive nose of ripe berries, plum pudding and black cherry with whiffs of chocolate and spicy oak.  The palate is complex, rich and juicy with fruit conserve, sweet spice and ripe plums all coming to mind.  The perfect combination of sweet fruit and ample soft tannins makes this wine very drinkable when young, without sacrificing the maturation potential needed to develop even further into something ‘magic’.”

“Dark, intense ruby colour with a touch of purple on the rim. Complex fruit cake nose with dark- and red berries, black cherry and sweet spices all intertwined with subtle cigar box notes. The palate is rich and concentrated with flavours of ripe plums, blackcurrant and stewed fruit, supported by firm ripe tannins that carries the wine into a long and lingering aftertaste. A superb example of power & elegance with great maturation ability.”

2008

Tasting notes:
"The wine has deep and dense colour with an attractive dark purple/ruby at the rim.  A reserved but open nose, rich in character with notes of black cherry, lead pencil shavings, stewed prune and black currant complimented by touches of red berry fruit compote.  Compact and polished on the palate, with stylish tannins, it opens up to reveal tangible black fruit and dark chocolate enveloped in vibrant Christmas cake notes.   The rich and complex finish, typical of Le Vin de François, shows length, incredible balance and refined lingering flavours."

2007

 Tasting Notes:


Deep ruby red colour with a purple rim.  Complex nose of plum pudding; dark berry fruit and cedar wood, with whiffs of vanilla & chocolate. The palate is rich and juicy with blackberries; plums and ripe black cherries all coming to mind. The sweet spicy flavours and superbly balanced tannins ensures a long pleasant aftertaste.
